SEED AND NON-SEED PLANTS
|
We can classify plants in different ways. According to the way they reproduce, plants can be classified into seed plants and non-seed plants.

SEED PLANTS
Seed plants reproduce from seeds. We can find two types of seed plants: angiosperms and gymnosperms.
Seed plants reproduce from seeds. We can find two types of seed plants: angiosperms and gymnosperms.
- Angiosperms: they grow flowers, that is why they are also known as flowering plants. The flowers transform into fruits that contain the seeds (the seeds are protected by the fruit).
- Gymnosperms: they produce cones, that is why they are also known as conifers. The seeds grow inside the cones (the seeds are not protected: there is no fruit!).
NON-SEED PLANTS
Non-seed plants don't produce seeds, so, how can they reproduce? They produce spores. Spores are special cells that, when they fall into the ground, they grow into a new plant. There are two types of non-seed plants: ferns and mosses.

Time to check this information with some videos.
On the first video, you will review the difference between angiosperm plants (flowering plants) and gymnosperm plants (conifers).
On the first video, you will review the difference between angiosperm plants (flowering plants) and gymnosperm plants (conifers).
On the second video, you will watch how are seeds produced in gymnosperm plants (conifers).
On the third video, you will check how are fern spores disperse (they jump from the plant!).
