LIVING THINGS ARE MADE UP OF CELLS
|
As a house is made up of bricks, living things are made up of cells.A cell is the basic unit of life. They are very small, so most of them are only visible under a microscope. Organisms can be unicellular or multicellular:
|
So animals and plants are multicellular organisms. But, are animal cells and plant cells similar? No, they don't. They are different. Let's study both!!
ANIMAL CELLS
The most important parts of an animal cell are the nucleus, the membrane, the organelles and the cytoplasm.
|
PLANT CELLS
Plant cells also have got a nucleus, a membrane, cytoplasm and organelles. The difference with the animal cells, is that plant cells also have got chloroplasts, a cell wall and a bigger vacuole.
|
If you see both cells together, you could see the differences:

What about watching some videos to ease the understanding of all this information?
First we are going to enter inside an animal cell.
First we are going to enter inside an animal cell.
Then we are going to enter inside a plant cell.
Finally we are going to learn how cells reproduce (cell division).
