WHAT IS LIGHT?
We already know many facts about light:
|
But, what is light? Light is an electromagnetic radiation that can be detected by the human eye. It travels in the form of waves. This is how a wave looks like.
COLORS
All light waves are not similar: they can be shorter (they have a short wavelength) or longer (they have a long wavelength). Different light waves make different colors: for example, the longest wavelength looks red to us, and the shortest wavelength looks violet to us.

So, how can humans see different the colors?
- When light hits an object some of the waves are absorbed by the object and some waves are reflected to you.
- The reflected light waves will have different wavelengths (so they will have different colors) depending on the properties of the object.
- The reflected waves enter your eyes so you can see which color is the object.
