HOW ARE ANIMALS AND PLANTS ORGANISED?
|
We have studied that all living things are made up of cells. But, how does this process works? How does a complete organism can be made from a single cell? Basically, in this process we can find 4 steps:
|
This process is similar in all living things, animals and plants. Let's study it!
CELLS ASSEMBLE IN TISSUES
Organisms have many different types of cells: reproductive cells, red blood cells, muscular cells, nerve cells,... These cells have different functions and shapes. Cells with the same function and shape, join together to create different types of tissues. For example: muscle cells combine to form muscle tissue.
TISSUES FORM ORGANS
Different types of tissues, get together to form different organs. For example: muscle tissue combine to form a heart.
ORGANS GROUP INTO SYSTEMS
The organs that perform similar functions, group themselves into systems: a system is a group of organs that work together. For example: the muscles of your body form the muscular system (they work together, so you can move).
DIFFERENT SYSTEMS GROUP TO FORM AN ORGANISM
When all the systems are created, the organism works. In order to live, humans need lots of different systems: the nerve system, the digestive system, the respiratory system, the excretory system,...
